king in His Kingship (All rights reserved)

This morning i sat & the thought came : Saul did not cope with his kingship...this led to next thought: so many sons & daughters of God are not coping with His Kingship...so many like Saul not coping & being caught up in moods of depression! (1 Samuel 15-16/2Samuel5-7) then i think of David & remember his music lifted his spirit. However let us not forget that Davids relationship with Nathan caused immense jealousy for Saul! Result of this was David had to run for his life into a desert & spend time as someone once said ( ill never forget it) as leader of a band of brigands! They lived dangerously, not legally, spent great deal of time in searching for David in order to kill him so take him out!

Sjoe Sauls death & his son’s death sure was dramatic now thinking about it! Now remember by this time David had already established a rule in the southern part of Israelite territory. It sure took a while for David to become king of all the Israelites! Was no quick fix overnight kingship! Do take note that it was only after the ascination of Ishbosheth who had succeeded Saul that David was asked to rule over the whole territory.

This made me think realize afresh, David was a man with flaws just like me, just like you. (you re not flawless be assured, no perfect man, nor perfect woman walking this earth) in Him Alone you re found flawless because of THE ONE who is flawless! Let s be real about David: his relationships with woman sure was doubtful. He sure was deceitful in his dealings with philistines! Then think about it he even let Joab his general do his dirty work...sometimes very dirty indeed! David was weak with his kids which led to Absalom’s revolt! THEN remember this now, despite of all these negative things about David there was one thing , one characteristic which allowed history to judge him as The Greatest King of Israel ever! What was this one characteristic = Obedience. He want to do what God wants. why was he a man after God s heart? Because of this one characteristic. When his behaviour showed he was not worthy of God, he (David)  admitted his sin and repented quickly! ! So? Learn from him...be slow to speak & quick to repent my friend!  You don’t know the heart of man and woman for  God alone searches the heart of a man and woman wher no human can see.

Reading through these chapters i could not but outline 5 key notes  for you and me so be blessed with it here we go from a side let s go through it,summarise &  wrap it!
1.
1.  Sauls Disobedience
Think about it just like Saul don’t we at times also try ourselves rationalise the easy way out. It cost Saul his kingship. Just like Saul easy way out can cost you kingship in The King & His Kingdom! Sure i agree there are times when God s commands are difficult to understand (don’t i know about it first hand!) but sin my friend enters human experience through disobedience, ongoing disobedience in our daily lives mars  relationship with God & keeps us from fully doing His work in His Kingdom.

2.       God is not interested in looks! (Yeah His way is not the worlds way who is interested in looks!)
Amazes me afresh each day to see how much time and off course money is being spent on making “images look good”to “feel good”....think about it clothes/hair/makeup/ all this stuff sure helps us believe that we are creating a good impression. But what of our attitudes values concers? they make up who we really are... .... so answer yourself in His Presence who are you really, the real you who is looking when back to in the mirror when no one else is around who is that guy that gal?

3.       you take over! (David took over...)
One thing sure, action should always follow appointment! I say again & will always say it, status on it s own is idolatary. David was like so many of us: wanting to do good & often do despite the fact of being a flawed person! Asking myself what was his key to success one answer is found simply this: he regulary “enquired of The Lord. God uses us my friend, flawed as we are, when we seek His will for our lives (not His will for others lives His will for your life and are obedient to His leading us  (not others leading us...)

4.       Endings and Beginnings
Each movement forward in our lives signals an end of things and a new way ahead. As humans we love to hold onto the past & so keep comfortable. Not so David. Sure my friend, to be oneself is important. To live by other peoples agendas means you are prisoner of their values and God comes second to human prejudice & values. So? Is the Lord maybe calling you right now to “loosten up”in your worship of Him?

5.        Good intentions & bad ideas!
We often have good ideas get all excited about them! Believe me, what is most difficult is being prepared to give them up because they are not actually the right ideas. It takes a real man a real woman loving Jesus following Him to do that.

I rejoice being able to say “He has been with me wherever I have gone” (2 sam 7:9)

God is the God of your history, my history, with all it s twists & turns! Trust Jesus, The One, to continue to Shepherd and protect you.

Love you all In Him Alone
