Well i ve just sat down reading John 17-19....Look around, national, international, the signs are there. Obviously every day is a day closer to the return of The Lord Jesus Christ. The day or the hour is unimportant but the clarion call of the prophetic trumpet needs to be heeded, Jesus taught us to pray "thy kingdom come" because it is God s ultimate desire that Jesus returns to govern bodily. But, it is almost a stammering hope we hear...in some quarters almost a dead expectation as Christians are intimidated by the world s cynicism....
Popular modern theology is all about the UTILITY of the cross, stressing the WORK of Christ rather than the PERSON OF CHRIST. what He did for me has become more important than what He is to me. Christianity today is jolly good fun, so what s the rush for "heaven"? Christ Jesus has done all the suffering so that we can now enjoy all the benefits like a spiritual country club..!
But it is God s will that Jesus returns. We need to believe it, pray for it and get excited about it. Jesus had 2 missions. First was to die on the cross, pay for sin and restore the spiritual link with our Father in Heaven. "the time has come" Jesus said (John 17:1) and as always the timing was perfect... the 2nd is to return, rule and bring in the judgment on all dissidents! that time will come for sure! in the mean time the major challenge is to get people to repent and be "born again". Time is short and lives need to be challenged and radically changed!
